The Elite Player Development Centre (EPDC)

The Elite Player Development Centre Programme is a regional coaching initiative, covering coaching centres in Suffolk and Essex. This season we have centres in Ipswich, Haverhill, Sudbury, Eye, Lowestoft, Tiptree, Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds. The Elite PDC is the starting point in a player's journey from trialist to an Academy Scholar, the first rung on the professional career ladder.

Players are identified by the club's scouts and invited in for trials and if successful are invited to join the programme. There are two blocks of coaching, running from September to January and February to June and in that time they receive coaching from FA/UEFA qualified coaches, with the sessions following the Academy schedule of work. The coaches then write a report at the end of each block, reviewing the individual progress made by each player.

If a player is performing ahead of his peers, there is the opportunity of progression, first to the Advanced Training Centre (Needham Market), then Centre of Excellence Squads (CoE) which is a shadow squad for the Academy, and then potentially into the Academy Programme.

The programme is overseen by Alex Brett, Football Development Manager who is contactable via
